| Level II Super High Resolution Data | |||||||
The NWS provides level II and level III data from the WSR-88D radars. Level III radar data is what can typically be viewed through the local NWS radar pages. Level II data provides much greater detail then level III data. Along with providing a 128 colors as opposed to 16; level II data also returns .5 dBZ increments as opposed to the 5.0 dBZ increments that level III data provides. All of this equates to a higher resolution product when viewing level II radar data. Both level II and III data is provided in near real time; this means that the latest 3d-LIIVID images are usually not more then 15 minutes old and are often less then 10 minutes old. |
